Quick guide to getting summaries, asking follow‑ups, and customizing settings. No complex setup required.
Install
- Open the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome.
- Pin the extension (click the puzzle icon → pin Snippy Summary).
- Optional: Click the extension icon to open the popup.

Getting Started

Open a YouTube video
Go to any video with captions/transcripts available.

Summarize
Click the Summarize button next to the video title (or use the extension popup → Open Sidebar).

Read the summary
The sidebar opens on the right and streams the summary live.
Settings
Open settings from the sidebar header or the extension popup.
- Provider & Model: Choose Gemini, Groq, Grok, or Kimi and a model.
- Language: Pick your output language.
- Style & Length: Markdown formatting; brief to detailed.
- Timestamps: Enable/disable timestamp links in summaries.
- Custom Prompt: Use your own prompt or a template.

API Key & Onboarding
Enter your provider’s API key once. The onboarding screen helps detect your language and save the key. You can revisit onboarding from the popup.
Usage & Limits
- Free tier: generous daily summaries (up to 1000/day).
- Check your usage in the popup panel.
Privacy
Summaries are generated using your configured AI provider. We do not store your viewing history or summaries.
Troubleshooting
- No summary? Make sure the video has captions/transcripts. Try re‑summarizing.
- API errors? Check your API key and try switching the model in Settings.
- Timestamps not jumping? Try again on the watch page; Cmd/Ctrl‑click opens in a new tab.
- Sidebar closed? Press the floating Reopen button or use the popup to open it.
